Brown's Hotel is composed of 11 Georgian town house and is the most historic hotels as it was the first ever hotel to open in London in 1837. Guests will be met with a warm and very personal welcome. The lobby is small and very cosy. It is very traditional in design with a large log fire and sofas for guests to relax on and read the daily newspapers. Wood panelling, ornate cut glass screens and elegant furnishings create the impression of being in a country house, rather than being in the heart of London. All rooms are contemporary, simple and stylish, using natural materials and antique furnishings. All rooms have two line telephones, voice messaging, i-pod docking station, air-conditioning, broadband internet connections, digital flat screen LCD television with interactive video on demand featuring a cast library of music and films, minibar and safe. Classic King rooms have a King sized bed and overlook the quiet inner court. These rooms comprise of a combined bedroom and living area which include an armchair and coffee table. Many of these rooms have an entrance hallway and some with separate desk area. size is approximately 30 square metres. The spacious bathroom of our Classic King bedroom is finished in marble and mosaic and offers luxurious Italian toiletries and fluffy bathrobes to complete your stay. Rapidly reasserting itself as one of London's finest dining venues, Brown's Hotel offers 'The Albemarle' (formerly 'The Grill') which serves a delicate balance of traditional English fare with a contemporary, continental twist. In addition, Brown's offers The English Tea Room which serves award-winning afternoon tea and preserves its famous discreet and elegant setting. The fashionable Donovan Bar serves a wide selection of wines and Champagnes by the glass and distinctive cocktails. Features include iconic black and white photographs by Terence Donovan, wooden floors, stained glass windows and contemporary furnishings. The hotel's new and improved conference and banqueting facilities now comprise six meeting and function rooms for up to 120 people, while for post-meeting relaxation Brown's Hotel offers a fully equipped gym and three spa treatment rooms.

Invocation is a distillation of everything we might class as a stereotypical English country afternoon - cricket on the green, church bells, birdsong and warm beer - the mythical 'middle-England'. Invocation was written for the Choir of The Queen's College, Oxford and represents the culmination of the composer's time as a research fellow at the college, when he worked closely with the choir. Phillip had long been a devotee of Edward Thomas's evocative poem, Adlestrop, with its dreamy pastoral feel invoking the very essence of a sultry English country afternoon. It seemed a natural choice to set, not least because it mentions the two counties in which he has spent the last seven years, Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire. His work in no way tries to depict this, rather to distil the feeling - it is a rhapsody on a theme of English country life, that men went to war to preserve, something very different from the more rugged landscape he grew up with in the Lake District. The work is called Invocation, because it is precisely that, a spell or charm, something that bewitches the listener and that the composer hopes stays long in the mind, rather like Adlestrop or indeed Adlestrop itself.The Novello New Choral Series is an inspiring selection of new works from a range of contemporary composers, offering pieces for all types of choirs, including sacred and secular works from simple, four-part settings to more expansive, yet accessible, repertoire in an exciting variety of styles. This collection is perfect for choirs looking to broaden their repertoire and explore some of the best new music around.Phillip Cooke was born in Cumbria in 1980, spending his formative years there. He has had works played across the country by many of the country's top choirs and ensembles. New works in 2011 were featured in the London Festival of Contemporary Church Music, John Armitage Memorial Concert Series, Choir & Organ and the Lake District Summer Music Festival, and by the Temple Church Choir, Eton College Choir and many cathedral, university and Oxbridge college choirs. He is strongly infl uenced by his native Lake District and by history, poetry and literature. He is active as an academic with teaching positions at Oxford University and Eton College and is currently co-editing a book of essays on Herbert Howells for publication in 2013.'Philip Cooke's Invocation is memorably haunting, requiring the services of a straight-toned soprano at its end. The immigrant's story -- America is built on these tales of hardship and hard work of flights from persecution or poverty of boot-strap pulling and success building. Buried beneath these American myths however are the uglier truths of discrimination and exploitation racism and riots and a generational struggle for rights and respect. Regardless of the all-embracing words on the Statue of Liberty immigrants have never been particularly welcome on these shores something most of Kultur Shock have discovered the hard way. But they're not taking America's abuse lying down. We came to take away your jobs singer Gino Yevdjevich sardonically taunts on God Is Busy and although He well may be thankfully there's always an immigrant available to help out with life's more mundane tasks. We're grateful for their assistance as long as they stay where they belong -- in the economic wilderness a point driven home on Poor Man's Tango. With a finely honed sense of black humor an irreverence for all this country holds so hypocritically dear and a view of the world few of us have seen Kultur Shock are determined to rip the blinders from Americans' eyes. But it's not all class warfare and politics there's Duna's modern fairy tale a Balkan- punk love song and a wailing lament for Yevdjevich's home Sarajevo. That latter number like a clutch of others is not in English but regardless you can hear his pain anger confusion and bitterness in every incomprehensible word. The emotions are unmistakable regardless of the language they're delivered in with the music speaking just as clearly. The band's dizzying blend of hardcore post-punk and rock with Balkan stylings Middle-Eastern influences and Spanish flavors splashed across the arrangements make for a heady sound that's at once familiar yet teasingly exotic. Exuberant angry fun-loving haunting thought provoking and infectious We Came to Take Your Jobs Away is a stunning album the band's best to date an exhilarating journey into a world inhabited by people too many Americans would like to just send back where they came from.
