  • Agwa - De Bolivia 70cl Bottle

    £24.22

Agwa De Bolivia has 40 grams of coca leaf per litre. At the heart of Agwa are dry-roasted seeds of Gaurana, repeatedly used by Brazilians to improve the stamina of their love-life and their love of life itself. The unique, bitter-sweet taste is a result of the distillation of many powerful flavours of S. America, most notably the coca leaf. Inca messengers are believed to have chewed the leaves as a fuel to propel them at high speed through dense forest and today they are brewed as a tea in Peru to combat altitude sickness. Agwa is the perfect drink to prepare you for the night ahead and the ideal flavour to stay with you until morning. Try chilled as a shot or sip it gently with a mix of cola.

  • Blantons - Gold 70cl Bottle

    £54.48

Colour: amber with gilded reflections. Nose: finely timbered, marked by the dry fruits, evoke spices (grooves) and the flowers heady (chevrefeuille). Palate: the sharp mouth, elegant and race evolves/moves on the fruits (plum) and the spices (clove). Finish: long, develops on vanilla notes, nut of pecan and wood flaring. Blanton's was the first ever Single Barrel Bourbon in the world, and it set the standards for others to follow. This fantastic product was named after the late Colonel Albert Bacon Blanton (1881-1959), who managed the largest distillery of its day. It was during that time that he created a very special and limited supply of bourbon, which he hand-picked and stored in what now is known as the famous Warehouse H. Blanton's Original Single Barrel Bourbon is aged in one new American oak barrel for at least 8 years, unlike most others, never blended with any other bourbon. When a barrel is believed to have reached its optimum age, it is evaluated by the Master Distiller and a panel of professional tasters. There is no margin for error, because there is no way to compensate for flavour by mixing with any other liquid. The barrels that have been chosen are then dumped, bottled and packaged by hand. From the beginning to end, making Blanton's is a labour intensive process. Grains: Blanton's is made by using the finest Kentucky and Indiana corn, selected rye, and superior malted barley. Grains must be carefully milled (crushed) to exactly the right specifications. The milled corn is added to the pressure cooker with Kentucky limestone water. When the corn and the lime stone water reach the right temperature, it is time to add the rye and the barley malt, which breaks down starch into sugar. Yeast is added after the mash has cooled. Blanton's, at this point, undergoes a natural fermentation lasting from three to five days and becomes beer. This beer is transferred to a still. The steam that is pumped from the bottom of the still interacts with the falling beer, creating an alcohol-rich vapor. The vapor is condensed and passed through a second still, known as the doubler, to produce a crystal clear liquid. The liquid is placed into newly charred, virgin white oak barrels. To be called Bourbon, it must meet the following specifications: 1. Be stored in newly charred oak barrels 2. Be stored at least two years (if less than two years it must state on the label) 3. Can't have colour or flavour added 4. Barrels can be used only once (most used barrels are sold to Scotch or other non-bourbon malers). These full barrels now weighing 500-plus pounds, are placed in century old warehouse H and left for six to eight, but no more than ten, years. Only the Master Distiller can tell the right time to bring Blanton's out of the warehouse for dumping. When the Master Distiller selects the barrels, they are brought to the bottling house to be bottled and packaged. Blanton's has the most labour intensive bottling line in the bourbon business. The process is all by hand: hand filled, hand sealed (stopper and wax), hand applied label, hand numbered (each and every bottle), and hand-placed in the box.

  • Frangelico 70cl Bottle

    £17.18

Frangelico is a traditional hazelnut liqueur - enjoyed neat, over ice, with coffee or in a wide variety of stylish cocktails. Produced in the Piedmont region of Northern Italy, its origins date back more than 300 years to the presence of early Christian monks living in the hills of the area. Their skills in fine food and drink would have included the wild hazelnuts and other local ingredients to create a liqueur on which Frangelico is based today. Its name is also part of the same local legend - an abbreviation of Fra. Angelico, a hermit monk believed to have inhabited the magnificent Piedmont hills during the 17th century. The Frangelico bottle is an immediate reminder of this distinctive history. Shaped like a monk's habit, with a traditional rope belt around its waist, it is a guarantee of authenticity and quality that links the past right throught to the present day. Taste Frangelico and the whole story falls into place. Wonderful toasted wild hazelnuts, found only in the Italian North, combined with cocoa, vanilla berries and a host of other natural flavours that make up its complex recipe. Ageing in oak casks adds character and maturity to the final golden liqueur.

  • Mentzendorff - Kummel 50cl Bottle

    £17.11

Mentzendorff Kummel has, since 1823, experienced a remarkable history. It all starts and revolved about an old Manor House, called Allasch, in Livonia about 40 kilometres from the Baltic Port of Riga. The Barons passed on old family recipe according to which they made for the enjoyment of their friends a Kummel Liqueur called Allasch Kummel. An export firm in Riga, named 'Mentzendorff' suggested to the Barons that they should make the Kummel for export. Other European Liqueur manufacturers began to imitate the liqueur and closely copied the label, without succeeding however to match the genuine 'finesse' of the original Mentzendorff Kummel. Nowdays, the Allasch Kummel is known under Mentzendorff Kummel. It is produced at Saumur, in France, by the oldest distillery in the Loire Valley, Combier distillery which was founded in 1834. Lucas Bols is believed to have produced the first Kummel in the 1570's, around the time he began making gin. Made using cumin, a relative of the caraway seed, and the fiery qualities this spice brings to cooking gives an extra edge. Having originated in the region, kummel production has stuck stubbornly to north-western Europe and through the Baltic States and to Scandinavia. 'If your guests refuse to leave, uncork a magnificent magnum of Mentzendorff Kummel. This will ease the digestion of even the heartiest meals while keeping the party going indefinitely.' Johnny Ray The Telegraph 29 November 2008.

  • Royal Lochnagar - 12 Year Old 70cl Bottle

    £29.59

Royal Lochnagar is one of the smallest distilleries in the Highlands. It stands just beyond the boundaries of Balmoral Castle, at the foot of the majestic peak from which it takes its name and its pure mountain water. A combination of nature's finest ingredients and the Distiller's art produces the distinctive, mellow taste of Royal Lochnagar. Twelve years in oaken casks complete the task that human skill began. This is a whisky you will treasure and enjoy with those who share your appreciation. Queen Victoria is is reputed to have enjoyed this malt and to have used it to lace her claret, thereby ruining two of the world's greatest drinks. She visited the distillery which is at the foot of the mountain of Lochnager (1156m/3789ft), just off the B976 and just over the hill from the Royal family's Scottish home at Balmoral. A man believed originally to have been an illicit whisky-maker established the first legal Lochnagar distillery in 1826 and the present premises were built in 1845. Three years later the Royal family acquired Balmoral. The then owner John Begg recorded that he wrote a note inviting Prince Albert to come and was rewarded with a visit the very next day. Soon afterwards the distillery began to supply the Queen and became known as Royal Lochnagar. Over the years the distillery has been rebuilt three times, most recently in 1967. For a period in the late 1970s and early 1980s the distillery stopped using the 'royal' prefix but this has now been restored. scottish whisky

  • Starorezna - Prava Slivovice 70cl Bottle

    £23.91

This Czech Slivovice is amongst the finest available and comes from a distillery that dates back to 1518. Containing 100% distillate from plums, with no added ingredients. Fruit is collected in the fall, set in barrels and allowed to naturally ferment with just the natural yeast on the fruit and the natural sugars in the fruit. In the spring this mixture called 'mo't' (mosht) is then distilled to 100% purity and then diluted to 50% ABV. Nothing is added except water. Due to this process, a very large amount of plums is required to produce a small amount of slivovice, in addition the climate and soil must be right so that the trees produce a fruity and sweet fruit. The distillery is located in a region famous throughout the Czech Republic for its fertility. It is called the Hana region and the name Hana has become synonymous with dark rich soil, a bountiful harvest, and quality produce. It is the ideal region to produce Slivovice. (home-made) Slivovice from this region is a highly coveted commodity which is treasured so much in the country very few bottles make it out. Slivovice is traditionally a home-made drink where it is believed that a small shot every morning will kill any bacteria and keep you healthy. In the Czech Republic it is very popular and widely recommended in the winter, with tea & honey. Amongst other claims, are that a little Slivovice after fatty food will 'dissolve the fat/grease' in the gut also, that over indulgence will leave you 'hangover' free!
