Rich roster of Artists.As well as these two titans of metal BC Rich guitars are the weapons favoured by the likes of Brian Fair (Shadows Fall) CJ Pierce (Drowning Pool) Jason Krause (Kid Rock ) Marc Rizzo (Soulfly/Cavalera Conspiracy) and Pat OBrien (Cannibal Corpse) as well as many others. These truly unique guitars are a force to be reckoned with. Can you tame one of these monsters of metal?Bolt-on Construction A number of B.C. Rich guitars use a classic Bolt-on construction. On these instruments a neck (typically maple) is bolted on with 4 screws to the body. This construction offers some added flexibility in the instruments adjustment and provides the option to change the neck in the future.Rockfield Pickups - Mafia Bridge Pickups:BC Rich guitars called Rockfield and asked them "We like the turbo series but can you do them with a ceramic magnet also?" They replied "Thats a great Idea! Sure we can but youve got to use them in everything!" (They didnt win that battle but it was worth a shot) The use of a ceramic magnet gives any pickup extra power due to the increased magnetic field that they provide. This feature makes the mafia pickups produce a hotter and thicker tone thats really aggressive and full. The increased low end and thick mids and in your face highs is what rock and roll was built on! Balanced and full of sustain this pickup is a great representation of its namesake a truly intimidating killer. Neck Pickups:We wanted to make sure the neck version of the mafia pickup was just as full sounding as the bridge position. We wanted to do this without taking away from what we had already accomplished. So we again we went into the wood shed and made very minor modifications to the overall design and design concept of this pickup. When we came out we were confident that the Mafia neck pickup had that punchy bold tone with the same aggressive characteristics as the bridge version. A tad brighter with a little less output really takes this pickup into the smooth and warm realm of the tonal spectrum. All while maintaining that balanced bite and in your face aggressive tone that the mafia is known for!Flat Top Some of the B.C Rich shapes are offered with a flat top. The flat top styling gives a bold and pristine look to the edge of the instruments shape. Usually when the flat top feature is used B.C. Rich adds a stripe of single or multi-ply binding around the edge in a complementary color. The J-45 has been Gibsons top-selling acoustic guitar for years. Nicknamed "The Workhorse" and first introduced in 1942 Gibsons most popular acoustic is now the icon of its round-shoulder dreadnought line world renowned for its full balanced expression warm bass and excellent projection. Subtle changes to the bracing of its predecessor (the J-35) made Gibsons J-45 one of most technically advanced guitars of its time.Nickel Grover Rotomatic Tuners Grovers original Rotomatic tuners are an engineering marvel with abundant style and performance exactly suited for the J-45. With a gear ratio of 14:1 the Rotomatics deliver precision tuning in a durable housing that provides maximum protection for the gear and string post. All moving parts are cut for exact meshing eliminating the possibility of slippage. A countersunk tension screw lets players regulate the tuning tension to any degree. A special lubricant inside the gear box provides smooth and accurate tuning stability.Body Tonewoods (back sides and top)The top of the J-45 is made from AA-grade Sitka spruce while the back and sides are constructed from pattern grade Honduras mahogany giving the J-45 its world renowned full balanced expression warm bass and excellent projection. As with all of Gibsons pickguards the coloring and binding are all done by hand.Rosette A rosette is the beautiful hand-crafted circle around the soundhole and can be one of the most ornamental elements of any acoustic guitar. It is also one of the most subtle and complicated woodworking decorations on any acoustic guitar. The rosette on the J-45 is a simple single-ring rosette consisting of three-ply binding adding a stylish understated elegance to the J-45 Standard.Rosewood Fingerboard with Rolled Edges and Dot Inlays The fingerboard of Gibsons J-45 is constructed from the highest grade rosewood on earth which is personally inspected and qualified by Gibsons team of skilled experts before it enters the Gibson factories. The resilience of this durable wood makes the fingerboard extremely balanced and stable and gives each chord and note unparalleled clarity and bite. The J-45s dot inlays are made of genuine mother of pearl measuring approximately 1/4-inch in diameter and are inserted into the fingerboard using a process that eliminates gaps.
