If you think of a monitoring system as a kind of "lens" through which you hear sound the object is to have the lens be crystal-clear and transparent so that it imparts no coloration whatsoever to the signal being played back. However every loudspeaker system no matter how well designed interacts with the room in which it is installed. Lack of correct acoustic treatment (or worse yet lack of any treatment at all) can result in anomalies such as resonant frequencies and low-frequency "standing waves" - the aural equivalent to the lens being "smeared." Trying to create a mix in such an environment can be as frustrating and diffcult as trying to paint a masterpiece while blindfolded.JBLs exclusive second generation RMC Room Mode Correction technology is designed to solve the problem. A powerful onboard computer in each LSR4300 Series monitor automatically analyzes the frequency response of your room and compensates for low frequency inaccuracies in the listening space by precisely inserting filters so that low frequency signals arrive at the mix position with the intended frequency response. In effect the LSR4300 Series goes "beyond accurate" allowing you to eliminate the guess-work and create reliable mixes that translate to any environment. Additionally the RMC system trims the level of each speaker to compensate for differences in placement relative to the mix position ensuring balanced mixes.LSR Linear Spatial Reference Design Builds on the Linear Spatial Reference technology that has made this Series of studio monitors so popular in recording broadcast and postproduction facilities worldwide. The exact geometry of the wave guide the interaction of the woofer and tweeter and the ?nal assembly of the injection-molded parts has been redesigned from the ground up to provide accurate off-axis as well as on-axis listening within a window of +/-30 degrees horizontal +/- 15 degrees vertical. Attention to these critical aspects results in neutral mid and high frequency response at the mix position and a sound which is smooth and accurate in a wide variety of acoustic spaces.Surround Smart Once all monitors are in place RMC and Hi QNet automatically aligns the entire system setting relative volume so that the sound from all channels is balanced when it arrives at the mix position. The end result is precise imaging regardless of each monitors actual physical placement.In addition the ability to centrally control the volume of all the speakers is particularly useful in surround sound applications where the recording system does not provide a multi-channel monitor volume control or where adjustable volume is not available when using the mixing systems digital outputs. Similarly the ability to selectively mute or solo channels and to remotely switch between three digital and analog input sources enhances system capabilities by allowing you to monitor not only the main recording system but also any two additional connected sources such as DVD and CD players multi-channel processors and encode-decode units. Support for 24-bit/96-k Hz encoding ensures high-quality sound. Eight input channels and two output channels can be used simultaneously. The internal DSP effects of the R24 can also be used when the sampling rate is 44.1 k Hz. A dedicated knob lets you adjust the balance between the DAW playback sound and the direct input sound when monitoring.Control surface functions for most DAW software The R24 can be used as a control surface for DAW transport functions (play record stop) and mixing operations. You can easily move multiple faders at the same time which is very difficult to do with a mouse! You can also assign the five function keys to various DAW software commands. Cubase Logic Sonar and other major DAW applications are supported in Mackie Control emulation mode.24-voice sampler with 8 pads and 3 banks The built-in sampler functions allow you to use audio files on any tracks as loops. Play the pads in real-time and create performance for an entire track by combining loops. Use the display of the audio waveform for visual confirmation when setting loop intervals. Use time-stretching to change the tempo of a file without changing its pitch and trim unneeded parts of loops. The sampler and recorder can also be used together seamlessly allowing you to also record instrument performances while playing back loops on other tracks.Create your own beats with the powerful rhythm machine The R24 has a powerful drum machine with 10 types of drum kits that use linear PCM samples. With the touch sensitive drum pads you can program your own original beats and save up to 511 of them. The rhythm patterns that you create can be used just like the audio loops. You can trigger patterns with the pads and use them in the unit?s sequencer to arrange songs. The 472 preset patterns include intros fills endings and other phrase variations.Synchronized recording of 16 tracks The R24 synchronization system generates a clock signal based on USB data transmission timing.(1) Two units can be synchronized by connecting another R24 or an R16 by USB and making one unit the USB host device and the other the USB slave device. Used together they form a recording system with up to 16 tracks of simultaneous recording and 48 tracks of simultaneous playback.(2)(1) : Synchronization precision is accurate to about 1 to 2 msec.(2) : When using an R16 as the second unit 16 tracks of simultaneous recording and 40 tracks of simultaneous playback are possible.Guitar amp modeling and other DSP effects total 150 types The DSP effects which include 150 types and 390 patches can be used for recording mixing and mastering.
