The Alpinestars Bionic Neck Support (BNS) is a structure which is designed to work with a helmet to reduce the risk and severity of a catastrophic neck injury (ie. A paralyzing injury). While no product can guarantee protection from all motorcycle injuries, due to the varied dynamics of accidents, the BNS is designed to substantially reduce the likelihood of a career ending neck injury although it must be stated at the outset that it, as with other such systems, may not prevent injuries occurring in all cases. The BNS functions by providing an alternative load path for the energy that compresses the neck. If the helmet is in contact with the Bionic Neck Support at the moment of impact the overall load passing through the neck can be reduced, which may prevent a fracture from occurring. The BNS also helps reduce the chance of muscular injuries associated with extremes of head movement. While it is not possible to eliminate the risk of any form of injury, the BNS is designed to help prevent the most serious damage and minimize the risk of collateral injury as the impact load is channeled away from the neck. When compared to soft 'neck roll' devices the protection afforded is significantly better because being soft, these devices simply deform, offering no protection against the damaging compressive forces. As with any riding equipment, fit is critical to ensuring the most effective protection possible and riders should choose the equipment that is best suited to their body. No neck device should roll around over the shoulders. A unique style of long jacket in black / white pinstripe, the fabric feels like polyester suiting. Hazel Evans is a well known Dorset artist specialising in jewellery, the label on this jacket states that this item has been "de-constructed and then re-constructed. Given that information, we think this was once a fully lined, fitted jacket with one notch collar and revers, two integral bound hand pockets, a 12 ins centre back vent and it fastened centre front with 2 buttons. Re-construction has been done very professionally and is not a problem. Although we have a Hazel price tag £56 and it is in very good condition we do not think it was brand new when the work was done. The back has been cut away leaving the neck line and collar as a halter neck. It has then been scooped out from under the arms and across the back. The front has been left in tact but the buttons have been removed and used on one of the two sash ties. The shaped ties start at 5 ins wide x 17 ins long and taper out to 7 ins wide x 20 ins long. One tie buttons into the original button holes, the other tie has been attached to the left hand side seam. These ties then fold over each other to close the jacket. Due to the ambiguity of “standard” sizing from retailer to retailer, clothing from the Bournemouth Depot is now being measured. Please check these measurements before purchasing to ensure correct fitting. ACTUAL SIZES- Drop from top to base - 36 ins Waist - 35 ins
