The bs500 tops the record power range and represents exceptional value for money. designed for the keen enthusiast it offers large capacities, heavy construction and plenty of power to make ripping deep sections easy. yet all this is delivered ina sensibly sized pack that could fit into even a modestly sized workshop. This new heavyweight bandsaw has features, capacities and performance that previously were just not available at this price point and it aims to be the ultimate machine for the serious woodworking enthusiast. Capable of serious work, the maximum cutting height is over 10” and the machine can take up to a 1" blade, powered by a 2hp motor for deep ripping. The table is a large, heavy casting for stability and longevity and the rip fence is a heavy extrusion mounted on a cast iron mount and rigid steel bar. this table is mounted on a rigid cast double trunnion fitted with a rack and pinion to make tilting a simple and accurate one handed job. The toolpost for the upper blade guides is made from steel and movement is also adjusted on a rack and pinion. the blade guides are large and easy to adjust and the whole machine has a solid, robust feel to it. The bandwheels are cast iron to provide a flywheel effect that aids cutting performance. the wheels are dynamically balanced and fitted with thick rubber tyres that are precision gorund with a camber to aid tracking. the tensioning system has been designed to apply upover 20,000 psi and can adequately tension evena 1" blade for serious ripping. For accurate joinery a good planer thicknesser is an invaluable tool. it can also be a cost effective one enabling good use of unprepared and salvaged timber. the pt300 has been designed as a heavy, well specified machine able to fit in even a modest workshop but capable of serious work and preformance. The pt300 has heavily ribbed cast iron surfacing tables and a generous cast iron thicknessing table. the machine is housed in a single, heavy steel frame for rigidity and stability and boasts a 3hp induction motor to provide plenty of power for the 12” x 8” capacities and the maximum 5mm cut. The 70mm block has three knives to allow faster feed speeds and provide a good quality finish. anti kickback fingers protect the user as the knurled steel infeed roller drives timber easily into the block. the outfeed roller has a heavy rubber sleeve to protect the newly planed surface. The fence, which is so essential when surface planing, must be one of the most substantial on the market at this price level. the heavy fence extrusion is mounted on a large cast iron mount which tilts to 45º and is quickly and easily resets to 90º with the aid of an adjustable stop. this is then mounted on a thick steel bar which in turn is mounted in another substantial casting fixed to the outfeed table. When changing to thicknessing mode it is only necessary to tilt the outfeed table which simply flips up without encroaching into valuable workshop space and the fence remains mounted on the table with no need to remove it, saving time and avoiding the need to continually reset every time you return to surfacing. This powerful machine can take up to 5mm cuts and these adjustments can be quickly and easily made in either mode. when surfacing there is a simple lever to raise and lower the infeed table and when thicknessing there is a large handwheel to raise and lower the thicknessing table and a large clear scale for guidance.
