In this sequel to the popular Beast Wars sequel, the Maximals, a fierce team of robotic beasts, continue to defend their homeworld from the evil Megatron. The Maximals simian leader Optimus Primal, impetuous feline Cheetor, calculating spider Blackarachnia and wise cracking rodent Rattrap have finally defeated Megatron and his army, but after waking from an unconscious state, they find themselves hunted by a new breed of Transformers the Vehicons. Forced underground, the Maximals undergo a strange alteration of their beast/robot bodies. The sole survivor of Megatrons invasion, an orphane Transformers bat named Nightscream aids them in their quest as the Maximals learn the advantages of their new powers of metamorphosis, and being their struggle to free their planet from the Vehicons, and Megatron's evil rule.
